Where did this Cordwood thing come from?
Well it all started at the 4man bass Tournament in Southern Illinois
So Coach has fished in this 4 man tourney for years. It is on Crab Orchard in S. Illinois. His Brother-in-law Mike is one of the Tournament directors
For several years one of our friends fished with Coach by the name Bruce M (last name withheld to avoid the shame of the following story). So as it goes the team caught some fish, Mike the tourney director said to Bruce "looks like you've got'em stacked up like cordwood!"
Normally this is not a big deal but Bruce looked confused, now mind you to make matters worse Bruce grew up on a farm...so he has stacked cords of wood himself. He said something to the effect "What the heck is Cordwood". This absolutely set Mike off and he proceeded to berate Bruce for being so ignorant! You have to understand, in our group, the better friends you are the worse the verbal abuse and scathing insults to your manhood are!
Moving along to the weigh in...
So fast forward to the end of the day and the team has a bag of fish. So in true form Mike sees them coming up with fish and says "Oh it looks like Team Cordwood was on fish!" That is where the teams name began. I am sure, just knowing Mike as I do that there was much more said and possibly some public humiliation as well.
And then I start Fishing the 4 man
When I can into the mix and heard about the whole "Team Cordwood" thing I immediately had hats and shirts made as a continuation of the abuse towards Bruce......but since then Team Cordwood LLC was born and today is not only the "Team Name" wherever we fish but also whoever fishes with us is a Team Cordwood Member. So from a verbal tongue lashing and public humiliation to a brand, The Team Cordwood saga continues. I also believe Coach fell in the water that year.....but that is not the first time that has happened (including the whole ..."I Armour All'd the seats" episode, which is a whole other saga).
Coach
This isn't an overnight deal
William "Coach" Breeden, like many other Muskie fishermen has been tinkering with all sorts of homemade contraptions for fishing since the early 70's. Some have worked great, but didn't withstand the test of time, others simply lead to bodily injury!
Hey! I could use that!
Styrofoam coolers, 4" Down spout, Aluminum, Packing tubes for rods and the list goes on. Coach has used it all to make tackle boxes and other accessories. He sold one of his ideas in the 80's to Plano®, it is now known as the Magnum® Musky Box (which just happened to be my 1st Musky Box!). The Esox Box is just another rung on Coaches ladder of accomplishments.

Signature Series 24 Slot Esox Box
Made of Poly Carbonate with Heavy Duty Straps, Premium Rubber Feet, and High Vis Safety Corners
As with every box we sell this box is hand crafted from sheet goods. Polycarbonate is clear, strong and bends before it breaks. It's the same stuff your boat windshields are made of! So yes it can stand being on the water in just about every condition!
Why no lid?
No lid was our preference, we didn't want it in the way nor did we want to open it everytime we wanted in the box. Some of you have your reasons for wanting a lid and we certainly oblige. So when ordering a lid is an option. We have experimented with many hinge types from a unique elastomeric hinge to ABS Piano hinges. Since we utilize strap handles our lid is not load bearing which doesn't limit us to one type or material of hinges.
This box accomodates multiple baits per slot (depending on the bait of course) which means the 24 slot box will hold almost 40 baits in all. You'll find that this box is awesome for quick bait finding so...."Stop Fishing for Lures!"
The Difference is Clear
